Kennewick Planning Commission: Focus on Downtown Kennewick

Kennewick News | Comments (1) Matt McGee October 10, 2008 @ 11:17 am

During a recent workshop with the city council, Kennewick Planning Commissioners said they want the city to focus on improving the downtown area between the cable and blue bridges. Specifically, Commission Chairman Bob Spaulding told the council that the commission wants an emphasis on improving the shoreline in that area.

But that wasn’t the only thing on the commissioners’ wish list:

  • Alternative ways to pay for planning reviews
  • Move electrical and other wired utilities underground
  • Develop standards to protect Kennewick’s ridgetops and shorelines
  • Encourage non-motorized modes of transportationby creating bike trails and walking paths away from busy streets
  • Raise money to fund public art in the city
