Joe’s Going Out of Business Sale

Joe\'s, Kennewick

Took the kids over to Joe’s yesterday to see how the first round of sales are, and came away somewhat impressed. These liquidation sales are notorious for being a waste of time over the first couple weeks — that was certainly the case when Circuit City shut down earlier this year, and the Joe’s sale is being run by the same liquidation company.

Most of the store is only 10% off, but the stuff I’d be most likely to buy — Seahawks, Mariners, and other pro and college team stuff — was already at 30% off. I might go back one of these days and grab a few things to use as future gifts.

Anyway, these things are never fun. Employees are losing jobs, a big building is gonna be empty, and the overall quality of life goes down a notch when you have stores shutting their doors. Doesn’t matter if they’re big box stores like Joe’s, or smaller shops — it’s not something to be happy about.
