Bridge to Bridge Task Force Meeting on Thursday
The Bridge to Bridge/River to Railroad Task Force has its next meeting on Thursday of this week — November 5th at 2 pm in the council chambers at Kennewick City Hall. You probably know that this part of town — the revitalization of it, in particular — is one of the city’s main priorities.
At this week’s meeting, the task force agenda includes a review of some results from recent online surveys about the project area and how locals view things like shopping, transportation, real estate, and recreational opportunities. One of the telling survey results shows the challenge that downtown businesses have in attracting new customers:

The text is a bit small (sorry), but it shows that, for all 11 products/services listed, people are more likely to shop somewhere other than the downtown Kennewick area. Perhaps not surprising, but it puts numbers to the challenge that people have been talking about for a long time. The survey was answered by a little more than 100 people, about 2/3rds of whom are Kennewick residents.
That’s just one of the interesting survey results that I assume will be discussed this week. If you want to see a larger version of those results, or the many other survey results, visit the Task Force web page and click on “Agenda Packet” under “November 5, 2009.”
