The WASL doesn't need to be thrown out. The NCLB needs to be revamped, and Bergeson has a plan to do so. The NCLB act makes the WASL outcomes very punitive and punishes schools for not meeting standards. The NCLB act makes it so kids have to be tested every year, rather than 3 times over the course of their time spent in school. The NCLB act is what requires special-needs kids to pass the WASL just like other kids, and then holds it against schoolls when they don't pass. Bergeson is the only one with enough knowledge of our education system to fix the damage George Bush has done to our schools.
